Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has presented a ₦1.36 trillion 2026 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly, themed the “Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development.”
The governor said the plan focuses on completing major capital projects, strengthening social services, and advancing ongoing reforms, with 68% allocated to capital expenditure. He highlighted key priorities for 2026, the Urban Renewal Project, expanded housing schemes, and Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) support along the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK ) Gas Pipeline corridor.
Yusuf also revealed a 75% performance for the 2025 budget, outlining achievements in education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and environmental management.
The 2026 proposal earmarked the largest shares to education with (₦405.3bn), health (₦212.2bn), and infrastructure (₦346.2bn). in response to the proposed budget the Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Jibril Falgore assured the governor of speeding up the passage of the appropriation bill.
