Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), solidifying weeks of speculation about his political direction. Atiku completed his registration at Jada Ward 1 in Adamawa State, months after resigning from the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) which has been mired in a prolonged internal crisis.
His announcement came via his official X handle on Monday, where he shared a picture of himself holding his new ADC membership card.
Atiku’s move follows that of former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who also recently began membership validation in the ADC, urging existing members to validate their membership and new entrants to register.
Recall in July, Atiku spearheaded the adoption of the ADC as a coalition platform for opposition figures aiming to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
