GHANA EXPELS THREE ISRAELI NATIONALS OVER DEPORTATION OF GHANAIANS IN TEL AVIV

Ghana has expelled three Israeli nationals in a diplomatic response to the mistreatment and wrongful deportation of several Ghanaians who arrived in Tel Aviv last week without justification and under unacceptable conditions.
The incident stems from events on 7 December, when a group of Ghanaians, including four members of a parliamentary delegation attending a cybersecurity conference, were detained on arrival in Tel Aviv. Three were later denied entry and deported.
In response, officials in Accra ordered three newly arrived Israelis to be placed on outbound flights. Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, said the government was “compelled” to act following the treatment of the travellers at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport.
The Israeli chargé d’affaires in Accra has been summoned for discussions, as the ambassador is currently out of the country. Both sides, however, are now working to resolve the matter diplomatically.
