PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU POSTPONES FOREIGN TRIPS AMID FRESH BANDIT ATTACKS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his planned trips to South Africa, and Angola, following fresh security concerns in the country. This comes in the wake of fresh bandit attack on worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku kwara state which reportedly occurred a day after the kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, on Monday
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday confirmed the development, noting that the President has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and neighbouring ekiti directing the police and intelligence agencies to track down the attackers.
President Tinubu was expected to travel today for the G20 Summit in South Africa before proceeding to Angola for the AU-EU Summit. However, he suspended his trip, stating he must first receive reports from Vice President, Kashim Shettima who visited Kebbi on his behalf and from security agencies investigating the Kwara attack.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to ensure security operatives rescue the abducted schoolgirls.
In the meantime, Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has called on the Federal Government to urgently investigate the worsening insecurity across the country following a surge in mass kidnappings and deadly bandit attacks.
