UNITED STATES IMMIGRATION AGENTS CLASH WITH PROTESTERS IN MINNEAPOLIS

United State immigration agents clashed with protesters in Minneapolis on Tuesday, using pepper spray after residents blocked their vehicles during an enforcement operation targeting undocumented Somali immigrants. Minnesota’s state capital, Minneapolis, home to the country’s largest Somali community, is among the latest cities singled out by the Trump administration for mass deportations.
Federal agents launched the operation last week, though fewer than half of those detained so far are Somali. Tensions escalated after President Trump described Somali immigrants as “garbage” who “contribute nothing,” remarks that sparked widespread condemnation in both the U.S. and Somalia.
Minnesota state leaders have denounced the president’s rhetoric, while Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey reaffirmed that city police will not assist in federal immigration enforcement.
