US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP HALT MIGRATION FROM “THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES,

US President Donald Trump has announced a permanent halt to migration from “third world countries,” citing the need to restore the US immigration system. The announcement follows a deadly Washington, DC shooting in which an Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal—who arrived under a program for Afghans who assisted US forces—allegedly shot two National Guard members, killing one. In response, the administration has suspended all immigration processing for Afghans.
The administration is also reviewing green cards issued to immigrants from 19 countries, Afghanistan, Cuba, Haiti, Iran, Somalia, and Venezuela among others. Trump pledged to end federal benefits for noncitizens and remove anyone he considers “not a net asset” to the US. The moves represent a major escalation of Trump’s immigration agenda and have raised concerns about potential humanitarian impacts, with more actions expected as the DC shooting investigation continues.
