WORLD DIABETES DAY

Today marks World Diabetes Day, an annual global event marked every 14th of November, aimed at raising awareness about diabetes, one of the fastest-growing health challenges worldwide.

Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Over 540 million adults currently live with diabetes globally, and health experts warn that the number could rise drastically if preventive measures are not taken.

This year’s World Diabetes Day focuses on “Diabetes Across life stages”, stressing that every person living with diabetes should have access to integrated care, supportive environments and policies that promote health, dignity and self-management.

As the world marks this day, citizens are encouraged to stay informed, make healthier lifestyle choices, and support those living with diabetes.
