APPEAL COURT RESERVES JUDGMENT ON EL-RUFAI’S BAIL APPEAL

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna has reserved judgment in an appeal filed by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, challenging the refusal of his bail application by the Kaduna State High Court.

A three-member panel, led by Justice Onyekachi Otisi, reserved judgment after hearing arguments from El-Rufai’s counsel and the ICPC.

The ICPC urged the court to dismiss the appeal, arguing that El-Rufai had filed three bail applications before the lower court, all of which were refused.

However, El-Rufai’s counsel, Paul Erokoro, SAN, urged the appellate court to grant his client bail, arguing that the offences against him are bailable and not capital offences.

The Court of Appeal did not announce a date for judgment.
