OGUN POLICE ASSURE INEC OF ADEQUATE SECURITY AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTIONS
The Ogun State Police Command has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of adequate security for its personnel, facilities and electoral materials ahead of the 2027 general elections. The assurance was given by the State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, during a visit to INEC’s office in Abeokuta on Wednesday, where he met with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Feyijimi Saseyi.
Ojajuni said the command would focus on intelligence-led policing, early threat assessment, information sharing and coordinated deployment of security personnel to protect electoral officials, voters and election materials. He also emphasised that all security operations would be conducted professionally, impartially and in accordance with the law.
In response, Saseyi welcomed the police commissioner’s visit and reaffirmed INEC’s readiness to collaborate with security agencies to ensure credible elections. The police also urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to shun violence and intimidation, while encouraging residents to report credible security threats to the appropriate authorities.
