President Bola Tinubu has transmitted three executive bills to the House of Representatives, seeking to reform drug law enforcement, expand the responsibilities of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, and establish a National School of Government.
The bills, dated October 12, 2026, were conveyed in separate letters read by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary on Thursday. The President urged lawmakers to give the proposals expeditious consideration.
One of the bills seeks to repeal existing laws governing the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and replace them with a consolidated legal framework. Another seeks to expand the mandate of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau beyond aviation accidents and incidents.
The third bill proposes the establishment of the National School of Government, Nigeria, to replace the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria.
The three bills will now undergo legislative scrutiny by the House of Representatives and its relevant committees before any proposed changes can take effect.
