Amnesty International Nigeria has called for the prosecution of individuals and sponsors involved in electoral violence and vote-buying, warning that political influence must not shield anyone from justice.

The organisation’s Chairman, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, said it would identify, document and expose electoral offenders, regardless of their political connections.
Rafsanjani, who is also Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, CISLAC, disclosed that the organisation was considering targeted sanctions, including visa bans and asset freezes, against perpetrators and their sponsors.
He urged Nigerians, journalists and election observers to report electoral violations and called for independent investigations to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
