Ethiopian government has praised substantial advancements in the country’s healthcare sector, citing increased nationwide service coverage and successful health insurance initiatives.
Health Minister, Mekdes Daba at a public health forum in Addis Ababa revealed that Ethiopia’s healthcare service coverage has now surpassed 95 percent, attributing the achievement to sustained investments in health infrastructure.
Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh highlighted the success of the country’s community-based health insurance program, which he said has benefited over 63 million people in the current fiscal year ending today, July 7.
Ethiopia health Ministry noted the introduction of an income-based payment system has helped expand access to the insurance scheme, particularly for low-income citizens, ensuring more equitable and affordable healthcare across the nation.
