The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, says 653 terrorism suspects have been convicted during the ongoing mass trial at the Federal High Court.
Fagbemi disclosed this on Friday, saying 880 cases had been handled during the 11th phase of the exercise, which involved 1,060 suspects. He said seven suspects had been acquitted, while 27 others were discharged.
The Attorney General attributed the progress to the collaboration of judges, prosecution and defence lawyers, security agencies and other stakeholders.
He also stressed the importance of deradicalization to help discharged suspects reintegrate into society and prevent them from returning to terrorism-related activities.
