HUNDREDS OF ETHIOPIANS FLEEĀ  AMID GUNFIRE IN ETHIOPIA-SOMALI BORDER

Hundreds of Ethiopians have crossed into Kenya following rising tensions between Ethiopia’s Oromia and Somali regional states, with gunfire reported near the border town of Moyale.

Kenyan police said the arrivals, mostly women, children and young people, began crossing on Wednesday through several entry points in Moyale.

Gunfire was heard on the Ethiopian side early Thursday, while stray bullets injured a woman in the neck and shattered a hotel window. The woman was treated at a private hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Red Cross has begun providing temporary shelter and essential supplies, including cereal and porridge flour, to affected families, with an initial target of one thousand households.
