KENYA BUS CRASH KILLS 24 PASSENGERS

KENYA/ACCIDENT

At least 24 people have been killed and another 24 injured after a passenger bus collided with a truck along Kenya’s Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. The accident occurred near Kanga in Makueni County, southeastern Kenya, just three weeks after another crash on the same highway claimed 17 lives.

According to report, the bus was carrying members of a church who were returning to the coastal city of Mombasa after attending their pastor’s funeral in western Kenya.

The injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. Preliminary findings by Kenya’s National Transport and Safety Authority suggest that improper overtaking may have contributed to the collision. However, accounts from survivors differ on how the accident occurred.

The government has also pledged to strengthen enforcement against dangerous driving and improve road safety measures. Authorities say investigations are continuing as families mourn the victims and the injured receive medical attention.
