KENYA CONFIRMS FIRST EBOLA DEATH AS OUTBREAK SPREADS

Kenya has confirmed its first Ebola case and death after a Kenyan national who had been living in the Democratic Republic of Congo for seven years died in Nairobi.

According to report, Kenya’s Health Minister, Aden Duale, said the patient fell ill about a month ago and received treatment at several hospitals in the Democratic Republic of Congo before travelling to Kenya.

Duale said the patient travelled by road from the Democratic Republic of Congo to Kampala, Uganda, before boarding a flight to Nairobi .

The patient underwent routine screening at Nairobi’s main airport before being taken to a hospital by a relative. the patient died at 11:30 pm on Monday, his burial is scheduled for today in line with public health protocols.
