NLC DECLARES INDEFINITE STRIKE IN FCT OVER TEACHERS’ PROMOTION POLICY

The Federal Capital Territory Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Abuja has declared an indefinite strike across the Federal Capital Territory over the promotion of teachers.

The strike, which began on Wednesday, October 7, directs workers in public and private sectors to shut down schools, hospitals, government offices and other establishments.

The NLC said the action followed the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum to the FCT Administration over its policy requiring vacancies before teachers can be promoted.

The labour council is also demanding that teachers due for promotion in 2025 be allowed to take their promotion examination alongside the 2026 candidates.
