The Osun State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has disowned individuals listed as its representatives in the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), declaring that they were neither nominated nor authorised to speak on its behalf.
The council described the inclusion of the individuals in the list released by Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Osun coordinator of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council, as misleading and capable of creating confusion over its official position.
In a statement signed by leaders of several political parties in the state on Tuesday, IPAC maintained that those presented as its representatives were acting in their personal capacities and had no mandate to represent the council.
The parties that endorsed the statement include Action Alliance (AA), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Action Democratic Party (ADP), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and National Democratic Party (NDP).
Others are Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), African Action Congress (AAC), Labour Party, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), among others.
The controversy followed an advertorial signed by Adeleke and published in a national newspaper, in which Odeleye Titus, Faribido Benson, Enorch Olalekan, Adetunji Olubunmi, Prince Adesoji Adeleke and Rev. Olatunji Popoola were listed as IPAC representatives in the campaign council.
However, the Osun IPAC leadership insisted that none of the individuals was nominated through its established procedures or authorised by its secretariat to represent the organisation in the council. “We wish to state categorically and for the record, that the persons whose names were paraded as IPAC members in the said council are not our representatives, nor were they, at any point in time, nominated or authorised by the council to represent us in any capacity
