PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU TRANSMITS NDLEA, NSIB AMENDMENT BILLS TO SENATE

President Bola Tinubu has sent two bills seeking to reform Nigeria’s drug enforcement laws and expand the investigative powers of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau to the Senate for consideration.

The bills, known as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Bill 2026 and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau Amendment Bill 2026, were transmitted in separate letters to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The NDLEA bill seeks to repeal existing laws and consolidate the legal framework for tackling illicit drugs, while the NSIB amendment proposes to expand the bureau’s mandate beyond aviation accidents to cover other modes of transportation. President Tinubu has urged the Senate to give both bills expeditious consideration.
