RESIDENT DOCTORS SEEKS PRESIDENT TINUBU INTERVENTION IN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has written an open letter to President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the country’s worsening healthcare system after it declared plans to embark on an indefinite strike on November 1 over unmet demands.
In the open letter titled “A Passionate Appeal to the Commander-in-Chief of the Federation,” signed by the association’s president, Doctor Mohammad Suleiman, the association noted that the sector which is on the verge of collapse has become a matter of national emergency.”
The doctors listed 19 unresolved demands as the minimum conditions to avert the indefinite nationwide strike set to begin on October 31. They said many members are still owed salaries and allowances despite multiple agreements with the government.
Dr. Suleiman urged the President to personally address their grievances, saying the challenges faced by frontline doctors is “demoralizing” and damaging to the country’s healthcare delivery. The association expressed confidence that Tinubu’s decisive leadership could restore stability and hope to the sector.
