SPAIN EDGE DPR KOREA ON PENALTIES TO WIN U-20 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP

Spain have defeated defending champions DPR Korea four-three on penalties to win the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Łódź, Poland.

The final ended goalless after 90 minutes and extra time, with both teams unable to break the deadlock. The match was therefore decided by a penalty shootout.

Spain goalkeeper Laia Lopez emerged as the heroine, saving penalties from Choe Yon-A and Pak Il-Sim to help La Rojita secure the trophy.

The victory marks Spain’s second U-20 Women’s World Cup title, following their triumph in 2022 in Costa Rica.
