Tinubu Calls for Overhaul of Global Governance, Financial and Healthcare Systems to Favor Emerging Economies

President Bola Tinubu has urged a reassessment of the existing global governance structure, financial and healthcare systems, calling for increased fairness and inclusion for low-income and emerging economies, especially in Africa.
He made the call at the 17th BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that environmental degradation, the climate crisis, and healthcare inequalities demand greater focus. noting the challenges significantly hinder economic growth and development.

President Tinubu, at the summit affirmed Nigeria’s support for BRICS’ commitment to collective, fair, and equitable global development.
Recall, Nigeria became the ninth partner country of BRICS in January 2025, joining Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan.
