WHO SAYS NIGERIA HAS NO EBOLA CASES FOLLOWING EVACUATION OF INDEX PATIENT .

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced Nigeria currently has no active Ebola cases following the medical evacuation of the country’s index patient and her husband to Switzerland,

The WHO Regional Director for Africa, Professor Mohamed Janabi, disclosed this on today, October 26, 2026, following the evacuation of the infected woman and her husband, who are both Swiss citizens.

Janabi said the patient was clinically stable after Nigerian medical personnel successfully managed her through the acute phase of the illness.

He commended the Federal Government, health workers, clinicians and emergency responders for their efforts in managing the case and supporting the evacuation.

Despite the evacuation, Nigerian health authorities will continue monitoring 52 contacts linked to the confirmed case to prevent further transmission.
