The National Economic Council, NEC, has endorsed a 90-day economic action plan aimed at reducing the cost of living, improving food affordability and attracting investment across the country.
The plan was proposed by the Federal Ministry of Finance and endorsed at the Council’s 161st meeting, chaired virtually by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The five priority areas include food affordability, tax harmonisation, completion of major projects, removal of investment bottlenecks and regulated household support.
The Council also approved a national dashboard to monitor projects across the country and ensure transparency in the use of funds generated from fuel subsidy removal.
Presenting the economic outlook, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, said the government was targeting single-digit inflation and interest rates by 2027.
Vice President Shettima urged state governors and relevant institutions to ensure that the benefits of economic reforms translate into improved living conditions, including affordable transportation, better healthcare, job opportunities and greater financial security for Nigerians
