The Federal Government has announced a 30-day discount on petrol sold at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC, outlets, with public transport operators to receive priority.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this on Thursday during a briefing in Abuja. He said the measure is not a return to petrol subsidy, but an arrangement to sell the product at a reduced price through NNPC outlets.
The announcement comes amid varying petrol prices across the country, with NNPC’s latest prices putting a litre at N1,355 in Lagos and Rivers, and one thousand, three hundred and seventy naira in Abuja.
