Ikeji-Ile High School in Ikeji-Ile, Ijesa, Osun State, celebrated its golden jubilee with an anniversary lecture held at the school hall, Today Monday
The event was attended by the Olura of Ira-Ikeji, Oba Oluropo Fatanmi; Akeji-Elect, Dr Abiodun Badewa, represented by the Odofin of Ikeji-Ile, High Chief Kayode Ajewole; President of the Old Students’ Association, Chief Ojo Lasisi Babatunde; Director of the National Teachers Institute, Dr Kayode Jegede; Professor Adekunle Adediji of FUTA, Alumni and students among others.
Speaking at the event, Oba Oluropo Fatanmi described the celebration as encouraging, noting the contributions of professionals produced by the school. He urged the old students to continue supporting the Ikeji Ile high school
Dr Kayode Jegede identified inadequate teachers and the lack of a functional science laboratory as major challenges, revealing that the school has only five teachers for about 150 students. He appealed to government, parents and guardians to address the situation.
Similarly, Professor Adekunle Adediji encouraged the students to focus on their studies and discover their talents
The Old Students’ Association President, Chief Ojo Lasisi Babatunde, called on the state government to recruit more teachers.
The Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, Prince Julius Adegunna, described the celebration as a success, Noting that members of the association around the globe contributed and support the event, he therefore advised the government to look into the school challenges by providing teachers.
In a chat with Vicinity FM correspondent an SS2 student, Oyebade Tobiloba, urged her colleagues to take their studies seriously and work towards a bright future.
