ISRAELIS BEGIN VOTING IN THE FIRST GENERAL ELECTION SINCE 2023 OCTOBER 7 ATTACK

Families of victims of the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attacks have gathered in Tel Aviv to honour their loved ones, observing a minute’s silence before singing together at a memorial site.

The commemoration comes as Israelis vote in their first general election, today October 27 since the attacks, to elect members of the 26th Knesset, Israeli parliament

Voting has taken place across the country, including in Kiryat Arba, Umm al-Fahm and Jerusalem, with far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir among those who cast their ballots. Exit polls are expected at 9 p.m. Central European Time, although negotiations to form a new government could take several weeks.
