The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Oyo State Branch, has urged the state government to urgently address the welfare and manpower challenges facing doctors in secondary and tertiary health institutions.
The association said the unresolved issues affecting resident doctors at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, and medical officers across the state could threaten patient safety and healthcare delivery.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. Olufemi Aworinde, and General Secretary, Dr. Jemiludeen Moharson-Bello, the NMA called for the implementation of approved remuneration, allowances, career progression, recruitment and retention measures.
The association also expressed concern over the ongoing industrial action by resident doctors at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, which has entered its 38th day.
It called for the completion of the 2026 Medical Residency Training Fund payment, implementation of the approved Professional Allowance Table, and resolution of other outstanding welfare issues.
