The Nigerian Navy and Marine Police have launched a search operation for the bodies of victims and wreckage of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The aircraft, carrying 25 people — 20 passengers and five crew members — crashed into a swampy area near the Naval Base at about 9 a.m. on Monday.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohuagwu, who visited the scene, confirmed that there were no survivors.

He said Marine Police officers, Navy personnel and local residents were working together to recover the bodies and wreckage, while movement to the crash site has been restricted.

The Nigerian Air Force has released the names of the five crew members and 20 passengers who died in the crash.

NAF has opened a condolence register in Abuja, while expressing appreciation to Nigerians and well-wishers at home and abroad for their sympathy, prayers and solidarity following the tragedy.
