The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered a comprehensive assessment of flood risks and affected communities across the state as part of measures to strengthen emergency response and improve long-term preparedness for flooding.
The governor’s directives were contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo.
The directive also mandates the immediate clearance of critical waterways, drainage channels and culvert entrances as the state intensifies efforts to contain the impact of flooding.
Under the directive, the Ministries of Environment, Works, Water Resources, Lands and Physical Planning, the Osun Waste Management Authority (OWMA) and Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA), are to immediately undertake a coordinated assessment of all currently affected communities.
