PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU TO TRANSMIT WOMEN, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY RESERVED-SEAT BILLS TO NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

President Bola Tinubu is set to transmit executive bills to the National Assembly seeking special legislative seats for women and Persons With Disabilities.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, disclosed this in Abuja, saying the proposed laws are part of efforts to promote greater inclusivity in the federal and state legislatures.

Abbas said the Reserved Seats for Women Bill is currently being fine-tuned by the Ministry of Justice, while the bill for Persons With Disabilities is expected to be transmitted within weeks.

Under the proposal, 37 additional seats would be created in the Senate and another 37 in the House of Representatives, representing one seat for each state and the Federal Capital Territory.
