UNITED STATES ENVOY DENIES BIAS AMID SUDAN PEACE PROPOSAL

United States has rejected claims that its latest peace proposal for Sudan is biased. President Donald Trump’s top envoy to Africa, Massad Boulos denied accusations that Washington is favouring any side over Sudan’s civil war between the Sudanese army and the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) which has lasted over two years
Trump response follows comments by Sudan’s army chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, whom on November 23 dismissed the new ceasefire plan as “the worst ever.” Burhan alleged the proposal sidelines the army and accused the United Arab Emirates, (UAE) one of the countries involved in mediation, of supporting the RSF, a claim the UAE has repeatedly denied.
Burhan further accused Trump’s envoy of trying to impose conditions on the army, insisting Sudan wants peace but will not accept threats or external pressure. In the meantime, the RSF has announced a three-month ceasefire in response to ongoing international efforts led by the U.S. to end the conflict.
