FRENCH GOVERNMENT SHUT SCHOOLS FOLLOWING STUDENTS VIOLENT PROTEST

Hundreds of schools have been closed across France as students continue protests over a shortage of teachers, overcrowded classrooms and deteriorating school buildings.

The demonstrations, which began in the capital, Paris, earlier this week, have now spread to other parts of the country, with university students also joining the protests over similar concerns.

France’s Education Minister, Edouard Geffray, says 65 school staff, 40 of them who are headteachers, have been injured, while 1,949 people have been arrested

Reports also indicate that some of the protests have turned violent, with several teenagers sustaining injuries.
