OBIDIENT MOVEMENT CONDEMNS ARREST OF AKWA IBOM COORDINATORS DURING A TWO MIILION MAN MARCH

The Obidient Movement has condemned the arrest of its Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, Dr Ben Smith, the OK Movement Coordinator, Elijah Noah, and other members during a political march in Uyo.

The movement, in a statement signed by its Media and Communications Directorate, described the arrests as unlawful and alleged that the police were intimidating citizens exercising their right to peaceful assembly.

It demanded the immediate release of those detained and called on the authorities to end what it described as harassment of opposition supporters. The police, however, said the march was stopped over security concerns and that those arrested were being investigated.
